Valerie has been an occupational therapist helping children and their families for 23 years. She grew up on a ranch in central North Dakota, later attended the University of Mary and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.

She believes that everyone should play with a purpose as they learn new skills and make new connections. She believes collaborating with caregivers is the best way to make a difference in the life of a child. Getting to know her clients and learning what is meaningful to them is her favorite part of being an occupational therapist. She uses play, sensory strategies, and everyday situations to help children with a variety of skills including sensory and behavioral challenges, functional skills, fine motor and visual motor skills, emotional regulation, core strength and social skills. She believes in taking a strengths based approach teaching children new skills.

Valerie has additional training in Sensory Processing, Handwriting Without Tears, Zones of Regulation, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Reflex Integration via Rhythmic Movement Training, Functional Vision, SOS Feeding, Hippotherapy Level 1 and 2, and Trauma Informed Care.

She is licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota and NBCOT certified.

Valerie and her husband have 4 children, two of whom joined their family through adoption. Besides keeping up with her family, she also enjoys cooking, gardening, crafting and horseback riding.
