Sara Stallman, LCSW

Sara Stallman has been providing mental health and early intervention services to children and their families for the last 18 years. She grew up in a small farming community and later attended Concordia College, Moorhead. She received her Master’s in social work at Augsburg University, Minneapolis.

Sara works with all ages on issues related to anxiety, depression, attachment, attentional concerns, behavioral challenges and grief/loss. She recognizes that family is vital to the treatment process.

Sara is Nationally Certified in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and accredited in Permanency and Adoption Competency, working to help survivors heal through their individual journeys.. Sara has completed a number of certifications related to assessing and treating birth to age five, recognizing early intervention empowers caregivers. She is also a Certified Grief Counselor.

Toby earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2006. In 2018, Toby obtained their Master's degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. They previously worked in child welfare for 7 years. Toby has a passion for working with disadvantaged families and children and hopes to continue this work in a more therapeutic setting. Toby is currently certified in AutPlay, DC 0-5 and PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy). Mari Wanzek, LMSW

Mari Wanzek graduated from Minot State University with a bachelor's degree in Social Work. She has worked for private providers in the areas of disability services and child welfare with a focus on treatment foster care and adoption.  She received a master’s in social work (MSW) from Augsburg University in Minneapolis and continued to work with children and families. She believes in the resilience of children, families, and systems.  Having an interest in the area of teaching and learning, she later pursued an undergraduate degree in special education.  While working in the public-school system she also acquired a master’s certificate in Autism.  Mari is passionate about working with adults, families and their children and plans to continue to do so in and out of school settings.  

Mari specializes in treating grief/loss, adoption/foster care issues, anxiety, anger, depression, trauma, and family/relationship concerns. She has a special interest in working with those struggling with mental health concerns such as depression, and anxiety. Her other areas of interest include relational concerns, trauma, and grief.  Her experience is in the areas of child welfare, disability services, foster care and adoption. She enjoys working with adolescents and families on transition issues and has worked with teens and their parents in various capacities for over 30 years.  Mari holds a master's Social Work license in Minnesota and North Dakota. She is also a licensed Special Education teacher certified in the areas of Emotionally Disturbed, Intellectual Disability, and Specific Learning Disability.

Valerie Stevenson, OTR/L

Valerie has been an occupational therapist helping children and their families for 23 years. She grew up on a ranch in central North Dakota, later attended the University of Mary and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.

She believes that everyone should play with a purpose as they learn new skills and make new connections. She believes collaborating with caregivers is the best way to make a difference in the life of a child. Getting to know her clients and learning what is meaningful to them is her favorite part of being an occupational therapist. She uses play, sensory strategies, and everyday situations to help children with a variety of skills including sensory and behavioral challenges, functional skills, fine motor and visual motor skills, emotional regulation, core strength and social skills. She believes in taking a strengths based approach teaching children new skills.

Beret grew up in rural North Dakota on the family farm. She moved to Fargo to attend NDSU and earned a BA in Humanities in 2002. She then spent several years as a stay-at-home mom. She earned her Masters of Counseling degree from Colorado Christian University in 2017.

Beret has experience working with adolescents and adults with a variety of needs in outpatient and in-home settings. She has special interest in grief and loss, anxiety, parenting issues, relationship concerns, and spiritual questions. She knows that life is full of twists and turns and is passionate about helping others navigate the unexpected.

Danielle has worked in the child welfare system for 10 years as a Child Protection social worker as well as case manager. She has experience working with women and children encountering domestic violence as well as unaccompanied, undocumented minors. Danielle is Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Danielle utilizes treatment strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has also received training in DC 0-5 and Internal Family Systems.

She is completing her master’s degree in social work at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Sarah believes each person is the expert of their own story, their experiences, and the impact those experiences have had on them. She is passionate about how trauma may impact the central nervous system and the brain and how that may affect us emotionally, mentally, and physically. Protection and advocacy for vulnerable populations, specifically children, is also an area of passion and interest to her.

Sarah loves time spent outdoors. Being near the water, mowing, working with flowers, camping, bonfires and time at the lake. She values time spent with her closest family and friends, making memories and laughing.

Tana grew up in Mandan, ND and lived there until this summer when she and her daughter moved to the F-M area. She is currently attending school at M State in hopes of becoming a Dental Hygienist someday.
